Photography is a very creative field of work. It's a good career choice if you are into art & creativity. Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.
Professional photography is an excellent career choice for anyone who wants to get paid for using their creative talents. It's one of the few fields where age and college degrees aren't as important as a good eye, a quality product, and self-discipline. Photography is a competitive field, so be prepared to start small. Then perfect your craft and build a portfolio of your best work.
Here I will be giving you tips on how to become a professional photographer through what I learnt so for from my research. So let's get started.
Some people take a class or get a college art degree with a photography focus or get a diploma course certificate. While others believe college is a waste of time and money for photography. You can also learn by reading books or by doing experiments. Whatever you decide to choose, if you work for it you can achieve it.
The equipment you will be needing will depend upon what kind of photography you are doing. You might also need extra lighting equipment and 2 or more camera bodies with various choices of lenses depending on the situation. Remember we are talking about professional photography so 1 camera with it's kit kens won't do it. You will need a very good editing software.
Having a good quality equipment is necessary for a good quality photography but you need not to invest a lot of money for high end equipment at the start of your career, you can buy a used high end equipment with good working condition or another choice will be buying old model at a discounted price after a new model is released. You also have a choice to borrow or rent equipment at start of your career as woudn't know for sure how much will you make at the start of your career.
Invest more in lens rather than camera body. You can buy a new camera and still be able to use the lense because they usually provide larger jump in image quality.
Fumbling with camera and your equipment will make you seem unprofessional and could affect the quality of your final product. You should know each and every settings, pros & cons of your camera before you book your first client. Read the manual script provided to you when you buy your camera or watch tutorials on the settings of your camera on places like youtube. You should experiment with different settings and lighting to know how your camera will perform in different situations which will help you avoid wasting too mich time on changing settings on actual photoshoot.
Research photography tips, read latest books watch new tutorials online and read latest articles or magazines. This will help you to always be up to date because in this line of career there is always something new coming up that you can learn which will help you knowing whent to upgrade your camera and gears. This will help you be informative about what is happening in photography world.

Learn to use an editing software. HYou don't have to be very skillful, you just need to know minor editing which will make you photo look from good to great. Always remember to not to overdo it because your cleint may not like heavily edited photos.
As we know ther are many different kinds of photography such as wildlife photography, product photography, potrait, fashion photography, etc.
You need to choose what you like and what kind of photography you are good at and stick to it. Choosing your are of experties will help you using it to your advantage.
You are going to need a great portfolio to get hired by an individual client or a company. In your portfolio you should show your best work it should include more 5 or 10 photos in order to disply your talent.
Doing an Internship with a professional photographer will help you gain experience in photography and will help you learn and get an idea of how the photography business runs. You can use this skills when you start doing professional photography.
For example you are a product photographer then you should build your network around people who have their own product. Start giving your business cards.
Once your job is done and your customer is satisfied you can ask them to refer you to her friend, family and colleagues. This will also help you get your name pop up in the photography business.
Yes you heard it right. You need to create a contract in which you have to mention what the customer is paying for which includes prints, digital copies and gears you are using. You should mention the things you are liable for and not liable for, like your are liable for a photo accidentally getting deleted and not liable for after your job is done.
You need to set a perfect rate neither too high nor too low as a higher rate me scare most of the customer and lower rate may make you seem desperate. Check what local phtographer or other professional photograoher in your niche charge for their photography and set you rates accordingly.
This is it for this post. I hope you got what you were looking for. Thank you for giving your precious time. If you like what you see please share and comment. You can suggest me what should I post next in the comment section. Once again Thank You.
